The Taste of Home
The Taste of Home
Some foods carry more than flavour, and kleecha (كليچة) is one of them.
These small, intricately pressed Iraqi cookies have been passed down through generations, made by hand in kitchens that smelled of cardamom and dates, shaped without fuss and shared without ceremony because they have always simply been part of life. They appear at Eid, at gatherings, whenever guests arrive at the door. For Iraqis and those of the diaspora, they are less a recipe and more a memory, of home, of grandmothers, of a warmth that travels with you wherever you go.
This piece is a small act of remembrance for that. A way of honouring the everyday objects that hold more history than we sometimes stop to notice.
Part of the Cultural Series, a collection that finds meaning in the shared textures and traditions of a common heritage.
Printed on fine art archival paper, available in A5 and A4. Made to last.
